This archive includes documents that reflect the activities of the former Second Directorate of State Security. This directorate was one of the three directorates of the former State Security. Until 1962, it was at the branch level within the State Security Directorate. In the years 1962 - 1966, it was known as the Third Directorate of State Security. In the years 1966 - 1991, it was the Second Directorate of State Security and finally, in the years 1991 - 1992, it was known as the Directorate of Personalities Protection.

The archival collection of the Second Directorate of State Security consists of 555 collaborator files, 274 processing files, 379 management files, object files, sub-object files, etc., 361 folders, 51 registers, analyses, plans, topics, normative acts, correspondence, records, and cards.

The Branch of the Fund for Escapees consists of 6,732 files and folders.
The Branch of Foreigners consists of approximately 12,392 files and folders.
