ZAMIRA GJINI

Ms. Zamira Gjini holds the position of Director General for the Development of Education and Sports at the Ministry of Education and Sports.

With over 30 years of experience in education, Ms. Gjini has led and continues to lead important reforms in the education system related to inclusive education, quality assurance in education, professional development of teachers, or digital transformation in education.

With an academic background in Natural/Physical Sciences and in-depth studies in Educational Sciences, Ms. Gjini is a strong voice in the implementation of development programs and projects in the field of education and sports, in collaboration with national and international partners, as well as civil society.

Ms. Gjini has contributed and continues to contribute to the alignment of European Union directives with policies in the field of education and sports, contributing to the drafting of progress reports, presentations, and working group meetings in the field of education, within the framework of the process of Albania's integration into the EU.

As a member of the PISA/OECD Steering Board, a member of the Steering Board of the Observatory for History Teaching in Europe (OHTE) at the Council of Europe, a member of the Steering Board of TALIS (Teaching and Learning International Survey) or national and international committees, she follows the priorities and vision of education in Albania.

She leads and is a member of several National Committees in the implementation of Gender Equality Strategies, Integration of Roma and Egyptians, Integration of Children with Disabilities, psychosocial support in schools, Education for Democratic Citizenship in the Council of Europe, Education for the prevention of extremism and radicalism in schools, Education for the prevention of bullying and violence in schools, Education for the prevention of drugs, national minority policies, etc.

She has extensive experience as a trainer in the fields of "Intercultural Education and Human Rights in School", "Democratic Civic Education in Albania", "Peace Education and Conflict Resolution", "Teaching Methods", etc.
