Excerpt from the testimony of former political convict Hysen Haxhiaj given to AIDSSH. Hysen Haxhiaj, born on March 1, 1942, in Çorrush, Mallakastër. He was arrested on December 12, 1976, on charges of "agitation and propaganda." He was held in detention for 4 months. He was tried in 1977 and initially entered prison in Spaç, then in Qafë-Bari, and later in Durrës. He was released from prison on October 13, 1990.
